Nearly there...

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

Well, 'busy' doesn't cover the week we have had - we are certainly approaching Christmas at break-neck speed aren't we?
The children are continuing to work hard and produce some fabulous work even though their energy levels may not be particularly high at the moment, but I think that goes for all of us doesn't it?
Anyway, enough of my ramblings and on with our news.

Cake Sale

A HUGE thank you to all the wonderful people who brought in wonerful cakes and a HUGE thank you to all the wonderful people who bought the wonderful cakes!

Thanks to your generosity, we have raised at least £120 towards our Save the Children Syria Appeal, making a grand total of £320.
Thank you!

Dorchester Middle School Calendar

Our beautiful school calendar is still available to purchase from Mrs Saunders on Reception. However, we will be selling these gorgeous calendars on Monday morning before and after the Celebration Assembly. They are £5.00 each so don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to have one of your very own.

Little People

We have four, yes, four Little People Christmas Decorations left (soldiers) and then that's it so if you want any, you better come and see me as soon as possible.

A big thank you to all the children who have helped me and Miss Enever to sell these gorgeous decorations and to all the children and adults in school who bought them.
When we have sold the last four then I will let you know how much money we have raised.

Speed Sharing

5ER was the last class to experience Speed Sharing with Mr Chadwick.

Thank you for all the fabulous comments you made on the blog, it as lovely to see how you chose the piece of writing that you shared with our Headteacher.

Conscience Alley

We have, reluctantly, stepped (or should that be 'waddled'?) away from the Emperor Penguins and moved on to stories.
We watched a fabulous short film called 'One Man Band' about a little girl who faced a tricky dilemma.

We discussed the dilemma and then Miss Enever took the role of the little girl when we took part in an activity called 'Conscience Alley'.

The 'Little Girl' then had to decide which side of her conscience to go with - it was a hard decision to make!

Celebration Assembly Reminder

A last reminder of our Celebration Assembly this Monday at 9.30am.
The PTA will be providing tea and coffee before the assembly and there will be calendars on sale.
We will 'open the doors' to the Drama Hall just after registration.
We look forward to seeing you on Monday!

Christmas Jumpers

On the last day of term (18th December) we will be taking part in the national 'Christmas Jumper Day' in aid of Save the Children and Macmillan.

For a minimum donation of 50p the children can wear a Christmas jumper or they can decorate a jumper or  school sweatshirt with tinsel etc.

Brilliant!

Christmas Concert

Just to remind you that there is a Carol Concert on Wednesday 16th December in the Drama Hall.
It starts at 7pm.
Hope to see you there!

  1. Thanks for the effort all the staff put into the Celebration Assembly; glad we mums, dads, grandparents and friends managed to pack the place out. Hope you made decent headway with Christmas Shopping over the weekend too, Mrs Ray!
