Lots of award winning and wellies!

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

Well, on reflection, I would certainly describe this week as 'busy plus'! There are LOADS of photographs to show you what we have been up to this week so make sure you are sitting comfortably.
Are you ready?
Let's go!

Celebration Assembly

It was so lovely to see so many of you attend our first Celebration Assembly of the Summer Term. I was so impressed with the number of children who had earned certificates in such a relatively short amount of time!

I love our Celebration Assemblies, it's just the best feeling in the world when you see children being rewarded for all their hard work. If you just missed out on receiving a certificate, don't despair as our last Celebration Assembly of the year will be held on the morning of Monday 18th July
More details to follow.

Welly Wednesday

We had a fantastic talk from Ben and Maria from the RNLI on Wednesday.

It was an extremely informative session and the children (and adults) learnt a lot about the RNLI, especially the Lifeguarding side of the charity. We now know how to stay safe when we are on the beach and what to do if we see someone in trouble.

The children took lots of notes throughout the session, ready to write their persuasive letters to the organisations chosen by the individual classes.

The follow-up work has been incredible! The children were really enthusiastic about writing their letters and they have shown us, through their research and note-taking, that they know a lot about the RNLI.

Here is a selection of the completed homework:

Here are few of the persuasive letters being written:

I would like to say a huge thank you to all the children and staff who rocked up to school in their wellies and to all the loose change that you brought to donate to the RNLI. Ben will contact me when the money has been counted (it might take some time!) so I will let you know who much we have raised as soon as possible.

Worth a Mention Children

Here is this week's Worth a Mention board.
Well done to all the children who are on the board this week, it really is a fabulous achievement.

We are very proud of you indeed!

Golden Time

This week ten children missed their Golden Time.
The break down is as follows:
one for not handing in homework, two for detention and seven for reading records/diaries.

Quite a change from last week isn't it?
Come on Year Five - we can do better than this can't we?!

Activities Week

We are so looking forward to next week's Activities Week.
You should have received a letter at the beginning of the week to confirm our planned activities and to let you know what the children need to bring on what day.
There is a slip at the bottom of the letter than needs completing and returning to school as soon as possible please.

With our visit to the Dorset County museum on Thursday we would like the children to wear their full school uniform including school shoes please.
Also, on that day we have had to reorganise our lunch arrangements due to the timings designated by the Museum. If you have booked a hot lunch on that day and your child is going to the afternoon session in the museum then they will be provided with a packed lunch.

On the Friday afternoon (3pm - 3.30pm) you are invited to attend our Summer Art Exhibition. This will give you the opportunity to look at all the works of art that the children will have created during the week.

Invites will be distributed next week.

Well, that's it for another week. Thank you so much for the lovely comments about my Triathlon - I was very touched.

Keep your comments coming Year Five, I have been coming round and signing Citizenship credits so it will be worth your while to do so!

Have a great week everyone and I will look forward to sharing our Activities Week experiences with you next week.
