Moving on up!

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

What an emotional week! As one door opens another one closes and this really was the case this week when we delivered the current Year Five children upstairs to their new Year Six Homebase Tutors and then rushed downstairs to receive our new recruits. I hope everyone had a super day. It was lovely to see you all back in the fold on Friday where we experienced another beautiful but rather melty day!

Worth a Mention Children x 2

So, here is the Worth a Mention Board from last week...

...and now for this week's Board...

Well done everyone - it's great to see the various reasons why your Homebase Tutors chose you this week.
Brilliant, brilliant, brilliant!

Transfer Day - The Daytime

Although it was sad to see you all go upstairs and spread your wings for the day, we had to crack on with it and welcomed a rather lovely bunch of Year Four children into the DMS fold.

We had a great day with our 'newbies' - they will be a very welcome addition to the Dorchester Middle School family.

September here we come!

Transfer Day - The Evening

Later that day, we welcomed the Mums, Dads and Grandparents of the Year Four children into school so that they could meet their child's new teacher for themselves.

We had a very packed Hall which was fabulous (and hot!) and the evening went very well indeed.

A definite highlight of the evening was the modelling section where Darcey, Brooke, Zak and James did a brilliant job of modelling the school uniform.

I'm sorry the picture are a bit blurry, consider them to be 'action shots'.

So you can see what naturals they were on the evening, cast your eye on these super pictures...

So proud!

Summer Concerts

This week also saw the Music Department stage two Summer Concerts which were, according to my sources, rather brilliant.

Year Five had excellent representation as you will see from the picture below.

Well done Year Five - what an impressive thing to do. Maybe we could have an action replay at our Celebration Assembly?

Celebration Assembly

Just a reminder that our end of year Celebration Assembly will be held on Monday 23rd July at 9.15am. We are hoping that it will last around an hour.
Hope to see you there.

Buddy Picnic

On Tuesday 24th July, the Year Five and Year Eight children will be taking part in our annual Buddy Picnic.
The children will be getting together soon to plan the event so I will post a few more details nearer the time.

Sporting Stars

Year Five have been busy bees again and this week Cricket took centre stage.

The following is from Mr Roberts:

Dorset Schools County Cricket Finals
Wimborne Cricket Club
Tuesday 3rd July 2018

The pitch at Wimborne CC may have been benign and the opposition,at times, bereft but DMS still needed great knocks to seal a victory against St Gregorys in the first game.

Jadan and James bludgeoned any free hits with customary aplomb.
Bowling from St Gregory's .went gun-barrel straight but DMS closing batsmen began hammering them like a pair of eager blacksmiths at the forge in a blistering stand.
Jadan had given the impression that he was enjoying batting with James;they scurried between the wickets mischievously, stealing singles, provoking overthrows and then smiling at one another between overs!

Jadan's skill is far from a secret but his knock was its fullest expression, packed with exuberant hoicks, upmarket footwork and outlandish standing reverse sweeps that only he dares to attempt with such regularity-and this from a Year 5.

Well done everyone-a great DMS team performance in the first game of 5.

DMS WON
DMS 242-3
St Gregory's 239-10
DMS 222-6

DMS 219-5

Well done to all of the team ,especially to James K for captaincy.

It looks as though James is not only a talented model, he is also a talented Cricketer!

Well, that's it for another week!
I hope you all have a fabulous week and I shall look forward to seeing you back here next week.
