Did that really happen?

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

Well, that unexpected Snow Day on Monday was well timed wasn't it? I hope that your very tired children enjoyed the extra day and came back to school refreshed, full of beans and ready to go?!
The learning from that day has been phenomenal but more of that later...

Worth a Mention Children

As we were rather busy last Friday, the Worth a Mention Board got a bit neglected but we have made up for it this week. As a way of 'compensating' the children, Mrs Daniel decided to 'draw' more pictures than ever! We had lots of fun trying to guess what she had drawn, well, we thought it fun, Mrs Daniel didn't!

It is lovely to see that ALL of 5PC are Worth a Mention Children due to their excellent behaviour at The British Museum. We had a lovely email from one of the helpers from 5PC (see last week's Blog for the super comments) so this is very well deserved indeed.

Busy 5CW

Blimey 5CW! You have been a very productive lot this week haven't you?
Your timelines based on your British Museum Trip were spectacular - what a brilliant idea!

If that wasn't impressive enough, Mrs White told me that you were doing some rather fabulous work in Science...

OK, so you're going to have to tell me what you were doing! Maybe a brave soul or two, could write something in the Comments Section of the Blog? Whatever it was, it looks like you have had a lot of fun in the process!

Celebration Assembly

Hopefully you have received a text informing you that our next Celebration Assembly will be held on Thursday 29th March at 2.05pm. It will last for approximately 25 minutes (famous last words, again)and will be full of presentations and celebration!
We look forward to seeing you then.

Non Uniform Day

On the same Thursday, there will a Non Uniform Day to help the Sports Department raise money to purchase a set of gazebos for the school.
Image result for gazebos
Why gazebos? Well, that's a very good question that has a very good answer! Our field has very little shade so when it comes to hosting sporting events such as Sports Day, it is important that we provide shelter from a hot, blistering sun for the children (and parents). We have very few gazebos in school so by raising money to purchase a few, we won't have this problem ever again! Hoorah!

In exchange for not wearing school uniform, the children have been asked to contribute £1.

Rio in Room 4!

We are LOVING Dorchester University and all the unique experiences our children are benefiting from. Imagine mine and Miss Woodley's surprise when a piece of Rio entered our room this Wednesday!

Brilliant!

Marvellous Mike

This is our fabulous Dorset Reader, Mike.

He comes in every Thursday morning to listen to a variety of children read. He is incredibly supportive and has really helped the children gain confidence and skill in their reading.
Thank you Mike, we appreciate you so much!

Dates for the diary

Just to let you know that straight after our Easter holiday Year Five have two events to look forward to.

Friday 20th April is Year Five's eSafety day where the children learn about Internet Safety from a guest speaker.

Thursday 26th April is when all of Year Five are going to visit Dippy the Dinosaur at Dorset County Museum. There will be a small charge for this visit as the Museum Staff will be leading the sessions - we will be sending out a letter in the next few days.

Well, that's it for this week! Why is that my Blogs always turn into epics?
I look forward to seeing some of you at our Celebration Assembly on Thursday.

Have a good (four day) week everyone!

Mrs Ray

(who is really, really hoping that it won't snow over the Easter Holidays!)
