Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!
Well, it will be no surprise to anyone that the focus of this week's blog is Thursday's British Museum Trip!
We had a terrific day! The children were well behaved and a real credit to our school. When we were in the Museum, the children were focused, engaged and considerate to the other visitors (and there were A LOT of them, mark my words!)
Now, unfortunately, I experienced a technical disaster as the camera that I borrowed from school had flat batteries (yes, I did check them before we left!) and the Museum didn't sell any so I am rather short of that all important photographic evidence!
The lovely Harriet Scott (5GR) came to my rescue this morning which is fantastic. However, I would love to post lots and lots and lots of YOUR pictures.
If you took photographs that you are happy for me to use on the Blog then please could you get them to me as soon as possible? I am happy to extract the pictures from your camera via a USB stick, SD card, your cables from home or via email.
My email address is:

In the meantime, enjoy Harriet's photographs so you can start to visualize our brilliant day at the museum...
I have so many people to thank so, at the risk of sounding like an Oscar winner, I would like to thank the following people:
The amazing Year Five team who, without their help and support, this trip would not have been possible.
Mr Duffy, Mrs Daniel, Mrs White, Mrs Cook, Mrs Gaffney, Miss Enever, Mrs Whitbread, and Mrs Lister - you all officially rock!
I would also like to thank Ms Seymour for coming back from the first schools to accompany Year Five along with Mrs Adams for bravely volunteering her services. It was great to have our Deputy Head, Mrs Thomas, with us as well - thank you for taking precious time out to come with us.
Ms Wood, Mrs Oliphant, Mrs Shutts and Mrs Trowbridge have been brilliant. Ms Wood was a very calming and supportive influence, making sure that everything ran smoothly on the day. Mrs Trowbridge did all the photocopying (and there was rather a lot of it) and is the lady behind all those fabulous packs. Mrs Oliphant booked the trip, coaches etc. in the first place so we have a lot to thank her for. Mrs Shutts helped me out, lots!
I would also like to thank all the parents who accompanied us, we hope you enjoyed the day as much as we did. Thank you for working with and supporting the children throughout a very long day, I can't begin to tell you how much we appreciated you giving up your free time to join us.
Finally (hoorah!) I would like to thank the children of Year Five for being so marvellous and representing Dorchester Middle School so positively! I was also very proud of you the day after when you all rocked up to school even though you were probably still exhausted from our museum fun and adventures the day before!
If I have missed anyone I can't apologise enough. Let me know and I will right that wrong in next week's Blog.
Parent Consultations
This Monday (9th March) sees the last of our Parent Consultation Evenings for this term. If you have been unable to attend either one of our evenings then please do contact your child's teacher as they should be able to make an alternative appointment to see you.
So, that's your lot for this week! Don't forget to check the Blog next week as, hopefully, there will a whole host of British Museum photographs for you to look at and admire.
Have a good week and see you next week...
Mrs Ray
(who is still recovering from one of the most hectic weeks on record!)
