...and relax!

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

Well, I am extremely impressed! 'Why?' I hear you cry! It's all because you are all officially superstars by reading and commenting on the Blog - hooray!!!!
This week, so far, we have had over 500 hits on the Blog,
a-ma-zing!
Thank you so much for checking, I am now a very happy Blogger indeed.

Right, are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin...

Forest Schools Disco

What a fantastic evening that was! Miss Still strutting her stuff in the middle of the dance floor will be an image I carry around with me for many years to come!

Here a few of Miss Enever's excellent photos to show you what a great time was had by all...

Thank you for supporting Forest Schools, you raised £259 to help buy equipment for this fabulous facility.

Visiting the First Schools

On Monday we went down to Prince of Wales First School and Damers First School to read the  'Excuses Stories' that we recently wrote in our English lessons.

We had great fun with the Key Stage One children as you can see in the following photographs.

A big thank you to Mrs Lister for these pictures, they're great!

Celebration Assembly

A HUGE thank you to the 100 of you that came along to celebrate the incredible successes of the children in Year Five. I cannot believe that they have achieved so much in such a short space of time!

Here are a few pictures of the assembly taken by Mrs Lister.

Oisin only went and got himself a silver certificate and guess who didn't read it out on Monday?

Sorry!

The Lovely Mrs Pluck

Wednesday was a wet play day, urgh! No-one likes wet play do they? Mrs Pluck, our Assistant Headteacher, very bravely entered the Year 5 corridor and was pleasantly surprised with how well 5ER were behaving! As a result of this, they were all awarded with a Citizenship Credit each so she came back at lunchtime to sign them.

She has taken a bit of a shine to our comfortable armchair so we better keep an eye on it, just in case is mysteriously disappears from our room!

Golden Time

Only 8 children missed their Golden Time this week which is great and I am delighted that, yet again, no Year Five child had a detention.

5ER were the only class this week who all received their Golden Time - well done (not that I'm biased or anything!).

Way Home

Not to be confused with 'On The Way Home' by Jill Murphy! In fact, they're very different books aren't they Year Five?

We have been teaching the children how to use Reading Journals (not to be confused with Reading Records) and this book has been a perfect vehicle to do so.

One of the activities we have enjoyed has been hot seating the character 'Shane'. Emma kindly agreed to take this on and answered questions the children had, in character.

She was excellent, well done Emma!

...and finally!

This should put a smile on your face, especially if you are in 5AD. Mrs Daniel is a brilliant teacher, we all know that. However, there is one tiny, little and insignificant thing that she struggles with...

DRAWING!!!!

Now, for those children who know me, I am by no means what one would call an 'artist' so I do actually admire Mrs Daniel's drawing skills.
Anyone fancy giving us lessons?!

So, that's it for another week. This Blogger is going to have a week off so I will 'see' you back here in a fortnight.

I hope you all have a lovely half term, especially our Year Five children who have worked so incredibly hard this half term.

Mrs Ray

(who is going to book Mrs Daniel a place on a drawing course and has decided to 'keep her company' by booking herself a place too!)
