It was lovely to see all the children back in school on Tuesday looking refreshed and all ready to carry on where they left off!
Helping Hands
A big 'Thank You' to those of you who have earned money at home to contribute to the Save the Children's Ebola appeal. Along with the Non Uniform Day money, we are hoping to be able to donate a sizable sum but that can only happen if the money is brought in!
Even though the deadline was Friday, it's not too late to bring your money in.
Thank you.
Adaptation
There I was, minding my own business when all of a sudden I spied this sight from Mrs White's classroom. I had to do a double-take!
I have been assured that 'Malcolm the Mackerel' is not a new member of the class but is visiting due to educational purposes.
If you are a member of 5CW, why don't you be brave and tell us what Malcolm was doing in your classroom in the 'Comments' section at the end of this post? There's a credit or two in for you if you do...
Micro-organisms
Whilst I'm still on the subject of Science, 5PC have been looking at rotting and decaying logs in relation to the concept of Micro-organisms.
With the warmth of the classroom. all sorts of creepy crawlies decided to be brave and have a look at their new surroundings - lovely!
The Balaclava Story
We work hard on story writing in Year Five and our recent unit of work was no exception. We based our stories on one that we read by George Layton in his book of short stories called 'The Fib'.
The story we read was called 'The Balaclava Story' which was very entertaining but also very poignant. A lot of the children didn't actually know what a balaclava was so Mrs Lister and I put them in the picture by sporting a couple and modelling them!
Mrs Lister assures me that they are very warm, especially when you are walking up a large, imposing Welsh mountain!
Science Day
Just a quick reminder that it is Science Day on Monday so the children will be off timetable for the day. We are intending to take lots of photos for you so you can see what we got up to!
So, that's it for another week.
I hope you all have a great week and please, please, please be brave and write a comment - it's been a while since I've had any!!
Mrs Ray
(who is practising her drawing skills for Monday - why are you laughing?!?!)
