Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

Well, it's been a funny old week hasn't it? Christmas seems like a distant memory and we are really cracking on with our learning.

Just a short Blog this week so I'll get on with it...

Fundraising Activities

It is with great pleasure that I can now confirm some very important dates for your diary!
As you know, we are holding a variety of fundraising events over the next few weeks to help reduce the price of our London trip on the 5th March.
This is what we have got planned:

Hot Chocolate Cafe

This will be held by 5KD on Thursday 29th January in Room 5 during break time.

Cake Sale

This will be run by 5CW and 5PC. We will be selling cakes during break time on Tuesday 3rd February in the Year Five Corridor.

Non Uniform Day

This will an exclusive Non Uniform Day for just Year Five and will be held on Friday 6th February. If would like to participate we will be charging each child £1.

Milkshake Bar

This will be run by 5GR and 5AD during break time on Thursday 12th February. Location TBC.

The wonderful world of instructions!

In Year Five, we have been continuing to look at instructional texts. One of the 'types' of instructions that we have been looked at can be found in Neil Gaiman's book - Instructions.

It is an incredible book and I'm sure that, when you get to it, you will really enjoy reading it.

One of our 'tasks' was to write a set of instructions in the style of Neil Gaiman. We had a lot of fun doing this in 5GR and were so pleased with the fruits of our labour that we asked HRH Mrs Daniel to come and see what we had written...

I think she was impressed? She was too busy smiling like the Cheshire Cat!! Please let me know what you think of the book when you read it in class.

Celebration Assembly

Whilst I am bombarding you with dates, the date of our next Celebration Assembly will be on Monday 9th February.

Blimey! We are going to busy aren't we?

Thank You

I just want to say a big 'Thank You' to Lukas for all the comments he has left on the Blog.

I know that several of you have had problems with leaving comments on the Blog, maybe Lukas can give you some top tips?

Anyway, have a good weekend everyone and I will look forward to seeing you back here next week.
