Back to life, back to reality?

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

Let me start this post by wishing you all an extremely Happy New Year! I hope you had a fun holiday and that the return to school on the 2nd, yes, 2nd January wasn't too traumatic and I'm thinking about the adults here, not the children!

Once we all got over the shock of not being in our PJs and not watching television first thing in the morning, I am happy to reassure you that the children have got over the shock of having to go to school bright and early and have settled back into school beautifully, cracking on with their learning in the process!

Award-winning Lucia

Many congratulations to Lucia who was the Year Five Winner of the Christmas Art Competition.
Well done Lucia - what a fabulous design!

Worth a Mention Children

Many congratulations to the children who found their names on this week's Worth a Mention Board this week.
I am very proud of each and everyone of you! Bravo!

Ancient Egypt Day

On Friday 23rd February, Year Five will be coming off timetable for the day and experiencing 'Ancient Egypt Day'. It is a fabulous day that gives the children (and staff!) the opportunity to dress (and walk) like an Egyptian for the day.

Forewarned is forearmed and all that...

British Museum Trip Fund Raising Time

Whilst I'm on the subject of  Ancient Egypt, our exciting trip to The British Museum is hurtling towards us so it's time for us to crack on with the fund raising!
We have already raised £137.25 from our sale of the Christmas decorations but that is just a drop in the ocean!

From the week beginning 15th January, we will be holding a series of fundraising events. These events will be spread over two weeks and, I warn you now, sugar is heavily involved! Once the dates of the various events have been finalised then we will let you know what is happening when so that you are prepared for the distribution of funds to your offsrping!

We will be selling beautifully handcrafted bookmarks, holding a cake sale, running a Hot Chocolate Cafe and making milkshakes to be consumed with a cookie.

You can see why we need two weeks can't you?

Brace yourselves - that's the best advice I can give!

Well, that's it for another week.I hope you have all recovered from the frantic Christmas Holiday and that the week back to school has gone well for you all.

See you next week!

I survived an extremely cold and windy bike ride on Saturday - what on earth was I thinking?!
