Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!
Apologies for the delay in getting this instalment of the Blog out to you - I have been rather caught up in the whole Christmas Shopping/Present Wrapping/Mass Stress experience but then, haven't we all?!
Anyway, enough of my Christmas craziness, let's focus on what really matters, the fabulous children in Year Five.
Celebration Assembly
It was so lovely to see so many people in attendance, all 140 of you, a new Celebration Assembly record! Thank you so much for coming and for being part of such a special occasion.
It flew by didn't it?
A huge congratulations to all of the children who received a certificate, we were all incredibly proud of you!
Certificate Apologies
With the number of certificates that were handed out there were, sadly, a few casualties when it came to getting it completely right! The following children received the right certificates in the end but I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate them on all their hard work and to say a big 'well done' for earning so many credits!
Seed Dispersal Homework
5AD finally found a break in the weather and had a go at demonstrating how some of their created plants dispersed their seeds.
It looks as though you were having far too much fun 5AD!
Miserable Weather
You may have noticed that it has been raining, a lot. It always results in cooped up children and soggy teachers. What a combination!
Christmas Concert
During the last week of term I was lucky enough to attend the Music Department's Christmas Concert. I was an extremely proud Head of Year as so many of our Year Group took part in such an outstanding concert.
One of our Year Five teaching team took part in the concert (and were rather good if you don't me saying so!) - can you spot who it was and the instrument they were playing? Credits are on offer for the eagle-eyed amongst you!
Wimpy Kid Winners
A big congratulations to the four Year Five children who won the Key Stage Two Wimpy Kid competition. They had to 'design' a new character for the series of books and I was really impressed with their excellent entries.
Well done ladies!
Christmas Lunch
On Wednesday, lots of us thoroughly enjoyed a delicious Christmas lunch courtesy of Local Food Links.
Thank you ladies, it was fantastic, even if some of us did struggle when it came to eating our sprouts!
Worth a Mention Children
A HUGE congratulations to the ten children who have been chosen as the last Worth a Mention children of the year, what a fantastic achievement!
No picture or names this week due to a technical hitch and my dodgy eyesight! I'll endeavour to get the photograph and names of the children ready for the next Blog.
Sorry!
Au Revoir Mr Chadwick!
As you all know, Mr Chadwick is moving on to pastures new and will be the Executive Headteacher of The Greenwood Tree Academy Trust schools from January 2016.
On behalf of Year Five we would like to thank Mr Chadwick for all his hard work, enthusiasm and belief in Year Five. Thank you for going with my crazy ideas and helping me to make them work.
We are really going to miss you...
So, that's it for another week and, in fact, for this year!
This Blogger is going to have another little rest from blogging but I will look forward to 'seeing' you in the New Year where I will continue to report all the fabulous things that go in Year Five.
Have a good Christmas everyone!
Mrs Ray
(who is gearing herself up for another Eatathon. Now, where did I put my elasticated trousers...?!)
