Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!
One more week before we break up for the Easter holidays and we cannot believe what we have achieved in such a relatively short term.
If you thought we wind down towards the end of term then you are are sadly mistaken - this is Year Five after all!
Red Nose Day
We had lots of fun on Comic Relief's Red Nose Day - Year Five really rose to the challenge and the corridor was a sea of red!
The school raised the grand total of £555 which is incredible so a big thank you to everyone who donated to this extremely worthy charity.
Here a few of my pictures from the day for you to enjoy...
Dorset's Got Talent Finalists
We would just like to wish George and Phoebe in 5GR all the very best for this weekend's Dorset's Got Talent final. We were very lucky to see them perform in our last Celebration Assembly so we weren't at all surprised that they had got so far in the competition.
The U.K.E's first album cover?! |
Good Luck George, Phoebe, Caitlin and Ellie - we will be rooting for you!
Solar Eclipse
So, what did YOU think of Friday's partial eclipse? Year Five were the most persistent year group as stayed outside the longest. We were determined to witness this historic event, regardless!
I'm not too sure of what to make of today. I definitely felt a change in temperature, it certainly got darker, the birds did 'disappear' and it did seem eerie.
To avoid any disappointment, the Year Five teachers have re-enacted the eclipse especially for you through the medium of Jaffa Cakes.
Here we go...
FULL MOON
HALF MOON
TOTAL ECLIPSE!
Don't say that we don't do anything for you!!
Mrs Brother's Maths Group
It has come to my attention that, during Mrs Brothers' recent absence, her Maths Group were complete and utter superstars!
Well done - it's great to get such positive feedback from other members of staff.
Celebration Assembly
At the risk of sounding like a nag (!), this is the last reminder for this Monday's Celebration Assembly.
We have got quite a packed line up but will try to finish within the designated time.
If your child is due to receive a certificate then there should be a note in the Home School Diary.
School Play
Not only is next week the last week of the term but it is also the week of the school play.
This year, the DMS Drama Group are presenting 'The Wizard of Oz' and personally I cannot wait! Year Five is very well presented this year so you won't be able to miss me, I'll be the one beaming with pride in the audience!
So, that's it for this week. I hope you have a good week and look forward to seeing some of you on Monday. See you back here next week where there will be another jam-packed Blog for you to read and enjoy!
Mrs Ray
(who is off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz...)
