Ticking along nicely...

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

A much quieter week compared to last week but still busy, busy, busy! As we hurtle towards the end of the Autumn Term, there is alot heading our way so I'll do my best to prepare you all for all eventualities.

In the meantime, let's crack on...

As you know, we had a fabulous day last Friday to support Children in Need. I am delighted to announce that, as a school, we raised an incredible...

Thank you!

Worth a Mention Children

Huge congratulations to the ten children who are on this week's Worth a Mention Board.

There's a lot of hard work going on in Year Five and I am delighted that all of your hard work is being recognised and acknowledged by your fabulous, hard-working teachers.

Purple Friday

The following information was taken from the letter that should have come home on Friday. If you did not get a copy then please let your child's Homebase Tutor know so that a copy gets to you.

This year we are supporting Crohn’s & Colitis UK, making invisible illnesses visible. On Friday 1st December Crohn’s & Colitis UK is asking the nation to go purple for a day.

Crohn’s Disease and Ulcerative Colitis is life changing and becoming more common. These diseases can have a devastating effect on people’s education, work, social and family life. Public awareness and understanding of these chronic conditions is just not high enough BUT with our help Crohn’s & Colitis UK can pull these ‘invisible’ illnesses out of the shadows.

So, on Friday 1st December we are asking that all staff and students swap one item of uniform for something Purple in exchange for £1. This is NOT a non-uniform day, we expect pupils to still be in uniform with one item of purple.

Homework

Homework this week was clearly a struggle for some of the children in Year Five and quite a few children missed their Golden Time as a result.

Please remember that if it is a struggle to get homework completed at home then there are things set up in school to help you. The main one is Study Group  - this runs every lunchtime in the ICT suite from 1.30pm - 2pm. You will need to make sure that you eat your lunch during the first sitting.
Help is available if required.

Sports Notices

Please remember to check the Sports Notices on a regular basis so you know if a club has been cancelled or not.

The weekly Sports Notice is available on the School Website:

They are all PDF documents and in chronological order so it should be pretty easy to find the relevant week.

British Museum Trip

It may seem a long way off but 16th March will be here before we know it!

As mentioned before, we ask the children to fund raise to help reduce the overall cost of the trip.

Over the next few days we will be selling these rather gorgeous Christmas Decorations in the Year Five Corridor at break times. Each 'Little Person' will cost £1.50 but I warn you now, supplies are limited!

Well, that's it for another week.
I hope you have a fabulous week and I will look forward to seeing you back here next weekend.

(who is thinking that a shiny purple cocktail dress may not be appropriate for Friday...?)

  1. So wonderful that an unspoken, silent illness is being supported. Being a sufferer myself of crohns disease it is great to see. Well done DMS.
