Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!
Another week has whizzed by and now we are about to embark on the first half term of the year! How did that happen? The children (and adults!) have had a lot to contend with over the last seven weeks so I think EVERYONE deserves the week off!
Celebration Assembly
It was absolutely brilliant to see so many of you at Thursday's Celebration Assembly - what a supportive bunch you are! It was so lovely to see so many of the children receive certificates at such at early stage of the school year - you must be working your metaphorical socks off!
Here are a few pictures of the assembly:
Thank you to Mr Murray for leading such a super assembly and for Mrs Hammonds for encouraging the children to show off their impressive singing skills - three part harmonies - who'd have thought?!
Worth a Mention Children
Huge congratulations to this week's Terrific Ten - I know I say it every week but it is such a joy to see your names up on the board.
Whilst I was taking the photgraph on Friday, look who 'accidently' steeped into the picture...
Mrs Daniel - what are you like?!!
Super Science Homework!
Our Year Five corridor is looking rather gorgeous, if you don't mind me saying! Our boards are covered with fantastic writing on the Wonderful Writing Walls and there are some rather impressive Science Homeworks popping up here and there...
We love your creativity - long may it continue!
Golden Time
Well, we still haven't quite cracked this getting Golden Time lark but I do feel we are heading in the right direction?
Reading and Homework are still the main areas that a few of the children are struggling with.
We will get there in the end, right?
Pupil Voice Representatives
Over the last few days the whole school have been busy voting for their Pupil Voice Representatives and this includes Year Five. Once I have all the names from all the Year Five classes then I will post a picture of or new recruits.
I am so proud of all the children who put themselves forward to be Pupil Voice Representatives and even if you were not voted, we recognise that it takes a lot of courage and self belief to do this. I'll get a picture of you too!
We have a very vibrant and active Pupil Voice Committee at Dorchester Middle School and we have been meeting since the start of the school year.
To see what the Pupil Voice gets up to, I have just created a Pupil Voice Blog (go me!) so you can see all the things they do. You can find it on:

Non Uniform Day
On Friday November 4th Year Five will be holding a non-uniform day to raise more funds for Save the Children's child refugee fund. Pupils can wear suitable home clothes in exchange for bringing a £1 donation to school.
Well, that's it for another week, in fact, another two weeks! Thank you for making the first half term of DMS so enjoyable. I must say a HUGE thank you to the Year Five Team for being so brilliant - you are the best!
Have a good half term everyone - enjoy your well-deserved week off and we will look forward to seeing you bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Tuesday 1st November.
Mrs Ray
(who is going to enjoy the novelty of a thing called 'the lie-in'!!)
The assembly looked great! So many children getting awards! Thank you for all your hard work and keeping us up to date on the blog! Lie - in ???? Lorraine
