Welcome back!

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

I hope you all had a good half term - it flew by didn't it? It was lovely to see the children back all ready and raring to go on Monday morning (no, really, they were) but then we do have an incredibly busy and exciting half term ahead of us.

Anyway, enough from me, let's see what the children have been getting up to this week...

Fabulous Footballers

A massive congratulations to the Year Five Football team who performed so brilliantly on Thursday after school.

Words from Mr Roberts:

DMS v Sunninghill -WON 7-1

I had the pleasure of driving the Year 5 Football Team to the newly laid AstroTurf at Sunninghill after school today.

The boys were dominant in defence and imperious in attack against a Year 6 Prep School Team!

Jacob B scored 4
Lewis T scored 2
Captain Toby B scored 1

They were truly magnificent!

Fantastic boys and thank you for being such a credit to our Year Group and School.

5CW's Fact Finding Mission

In the middle of an English lesson the other day, I spotted 5CW outside my classroom. On further investigation, I found out that they were admiring our Wonderful Writing Wall and using it as an inspiration for their own writing which is such a compliment.

I can't wait to read your Neil Gaiman style instructions, please make sure it happens!

Worth a Mention Children

An enormous 'well done' to this week's Worth a Mention children.

Another wonderful range of reasons why you have been selected - brilliant!

Golden Time

Are you ready for this?
This week just 4, yes, 4 children missed their Golden Time this week.

Not one Year Five child was in Detention and ALL of 5CW and 5AD received their Golden Time!

Am I allowed to be quietly confident that this number might go down even further next week? Dare I?

Fingers crossed...

World Book Day

This Thursday sees the welcome arrival of World Book Day. As you know, we have lots of exciting things planned for the day as well as the opportunity to enter a couple of rather fabulous competitions.

Personally, I am planning to take part in the Extreme Reading competition. Are any of you planning to do this? If so, what are going to do or will it be a surprise?

Have you decided which book character you will be coming as yet? I am still undecided although I did come dressed as Burt from Ratburger one year...

Ancient Egypt Day

We have been busy planning our Ancient Egypt Day which will be held on Monday 14th March - exactly one month before we go to the British Museum.

Please remember that costumes are optional and that we will not be charging children if they choose to come to school dressed as an Ancient Egyptian.

I can't wait!

So, that's it for another week.
Final letters about the Museum trip should be heading your way in the next week where we will be asking for final payment (£10) and giving you more details about the day.

Have a good week everyone and I'll see you next week with lots of pictures from World Book Day.

Mrs Ray

(who is wondering if she could get away with coming as Hetty Feather? No, I didn't think so either!)
