Mixed emotions

Hello and welcome back to the last Year Five Blog of the academic year!

Well, can you believe it? The academic year has come to an end and we have had to say 'Goodbye' to a fabulous cohort of Year Five children. I have told Mr Murray how lucky he is to be gaining such a terrific year group but he had already figured that one out for himself!

Lots to share with you so I'll get on with it...

Celebration Assembly

A HUGE thank you to all 115 (yes, 115!) parents/carers/grandparents who attended Monday's assembly. We had so much fun and hope that you enjoyed it too.

Here are a 'few' pictures taken by the wonderful Miss Enever for you.
Apologies for them not being in chronological order...

Buddy Picnic

Monday was a very busy day as no sooner had we celebrated all the fantastic successes in Year Five, we were hot footing it off to Hardye's Field with our |Year Eight Buddies to  participate in the annual Buddy Picnic.

The amount of food that was brought along was phenomenal! Thank you to everyone who brought something and to Food Links who made yummy pizzas and cookies for the children who had booked a hot school lunch. When we left, the seagulls had an absolute field day!

Back to business

We were on timetable on Tuesday and Wednesday so it was a case of 'business as usual'.
5GR had a writing task to complete (yes, I know, how mean of me) but we had great fun acting out a scenario based on a picture!

If your child is in one of the pictures, then I'll let them explain to you what's going on in the photographs!

Year Five DASP Citizens of the Year

A huge well done to Martina Todd in 5KD and Lukas Neill in 5GR for winning this year's DASP Citizenship Awards for Year Five.

These two children were very worthy winners and we were very proud of them when they received their awards during the end of term whole school assembly.

Bye, Bye Buddies

On the last day of term we said farewell to our Year Eight Buddies. We managed to find time to meet up and exchange cards.

However, the Year Eight children went one step further and made their Year Five Buddies the most incredible Buddy Boxes.

Thank You for being such great Buddies Year Eight and we wish you all the very best in your new school.

Last Day of Term

The last day of the summer term is always a hectic one...

Trying to get drawers cleared, work to be taken home, books sorted, displays down, filing piled into a corner (...need I go on?!) is hectic to say the least!

This picture taken by Miss Enever made me giggle...

We'll get there, eventually! I feel I have a summer of filing ahead of me!!!

We will miss you...

Miss Enever, our official Year Five Photographer took some lovely photographs of the Year Five classes and we would really like to share them with you.

Brings a tear to your eye doesn't it?

A Final 'Thank You'.

Thank you for all the lovely, thoughtful presents that we received at the end of term. You are a very generous group of people and we were really touched by your kindness.

I LOVED my book - thank you 5GR, I will treasure it forever.

So, that's it for, well, another year - and what a year it has been!

During our training day we had a part of the day designated for 'Celebratory Moments'. I decided to put a selection of the pictures from the Blog into a movie and share the several lovely moments that we have had this year. Originally, the video was 17 minutes but I managed to get it down to 3 minutes and 30 seconds thanks to Eddie and Ben's technological know-how!

I have had problems uploading this video for you but I will not be defeated - keep an eye on the blog...

Thank you for one of the best years yet. We wish you a very lovely Summer Holiday and will look forward to seeing the children in September when they would have grown several centimetres and look all Year Six-ish!
