Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!
Another terrific week in the bag. I can't believe how quickly the weeks are whizzing by, can you?
As usual, lots to feedback on so off I go...

Sports Day
What a glorious day! I can't believe the weather was so kind to us, the first of many results!
Sports Day at DMS is always brilliant thanks to the hard work and organisation of the PE Department.
Here are a selection of Miss Enever's photographs for your perusal, there are loads:
Year Five, you were fantastic and we were so proud of the enthusiasm, effort and encouragement of your peers (and the poor teachers who had to do the staff relay and tug of war!).
Congratulations to 5PC and 5GR who were, for the first time ever, joint Year Five Winners. Well done!
Fiver Challenge
The Year Five Teams are gearing up to welcome you to their Market Place event this Monday.
Here are the teams meeting for the last time.
I have to say, I am very impressed with the way that so many of the groups have worked together over the last few weeks and I hope that we can all support their ventures this Monday.
Details of the event are in last week's Blog entitled 'Another exhausting week'.

Plant Envy
5CW are zooming at the speed of light through the Science Curriculum and have been busy planting broad bean seeds in jam jars.
Blimey! Haven't they grown!
Non-Uniform Day
Just to let you know that we raised £142 for Rowan Cottage. Well done Year Five!

First Schools visits
Next week is Transfer Day - can you believe it was a year ago that you started your new school?!
I had the great pleasure to take a few children back to their first schools. They had a thoroughly enjoyable trip down memory lane as well as reassuring the new children by telling them what a great time they are having at Dorchester Middle School.
Whole School Photograph
Just to let you know that this has been rescheduled for the morning of Tuesday 30th June. Please make sure that sweatshirts are brought in so they can be worn for the picture.
Thank you.

Transfer Day - Thursday 2nd July
As one door closes, another one opens.
Yes Year Five, very sadly your time in Year Five is coming to an end and you will be off to Year Six before you know it! On Thursday you will be meeting your new Year Six teacher and spending some time with them. Your Homebase Tutor will tell you more about it nearer the time. The afternoon will be 'business as usual' so make sure that if you have PE/Games you bring your kit in.
As we will be entertaining the new children, we ask that you do not come back into the Year Five Corridor during the day, especially at the end of the day.
So, that's it for another week. I hope that you have a good week and enjoy all the new experiences that are heading your way.
The comments section has been a bit quiet lately - let's have a few more comments please!
Mrs Ray
(whose muscles are still aching from the Tug of War - why, oh why, oh why did we do it?!)
