Still all in one piece!

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

In typical Year Five fashion, we were 'back to business' from the moment the children stepped through the door on Monday morning! The definite highlight of our week has been the trip to Safewise in Weymouth. As you know, each class went on a different day and every single human that went had a fabulous time as you will see below...

Staying Safe

What a fabulous trip! I was so impressed with the whole package from beginning to end. We were made to feel extremely welcome and the wealth of knowledge that we came away with was second to none.

Here are the pictures from 5ER's visit on the Monday.

Now, the staff and helpers might not know this, but Safewise have been busy posting the pictures of us on social media all week and boy, have they captured some cracking moments. So, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, here are the responsible adults in your life on mobility scooters...

Best. Pictures. Ever.

Now, as you are aware, Safewise have been running a quiz all week where the class with the highest percentage were the overall Champions of  the week.

Huge congratulations to 5AD who narrowly beat 5KD. In our defense, 5ER were the first ones to take part in the quiz!

Safewise were really impressed with our children - they really did do us proud. This is what they posted on social media following our visits...

Well done to all of the Year 5 children from Dorchester Middle School. You were a credit to yourselves, your school and your families. Congratulations on all of your quiz scores, you all got a really good score in both quizzes and should be very proud of the work you did

Well done and thank you to everyone who came and supported the trip but most importantly, thank you to the children for representing our school so positively - thank you.

Dollytastic!

Here is our lovely Dolly! She only went and took part in the DASP PE Inclusion Festival recently and ended up being pride of place in the Dorset Echo!

You looked as though you had a fabulous time Dolly! Maybe you could tell us more in the comments section?
Well done young lady!

Worth a Mention Children

A huge 'well done' and congratulations to this week's Worth a Mention Children. Another impressive set of reasons for your names to be emblazoned on our board.

Well, that's it for this week. I hope you all have a good week and I will look forward to seeing you back here next week. The comments from you seem to have dried up a bit. Please remember that you will be given at least one citizenship credit for making a comment - so what are you waiting for?

(who has been planning an evacuation route and routine for our house - I love Safewise!)

By the way - I hope you all had a good half term? I went to see The Next Step in Bournemouth and look who I bumped into...

I have only just recovered from the screaming and loud music! I am now officially middle-aged!

Pause for thought...

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

It may have been just five weeks long but my goodness, can't we pack a lot in? The last week was no exception was it? Let's have a look at what the children got up to...

Keep on walking!

Although 'Walk to School Week' was last week, rain stopped play for Mrs Daniel and 5ER. However, not to miss out on a rather super opportunity, trainers were donned and the walking commenced.

One mile later, their mission had been accomplished. Well done Mrs Daniel and 5ER, I bet you were pleased that you postponed - can you imagine doing that in the pouring rain? No thank you!

Celebration Assembly

I am so sorry for the 'last minute' Celebration Assembly on Wednesday afternoon but it was lovely to see all the 55 parents, carers and grandparents who attended.

Despite the short half term, I was so impressed with the number of stripes you had all earned. Well done and good luck to the parents who are in charge of getting the stripes on the jumpers!!

Our next Celebration Assembly is on Thursday 20th July at 9.30am.

Let there be light!

As usual, 5ER are a bit behind as far as the Science Curriculum is concerned but we made good strides on Wednesday and had fun investigating which materials were transparent, translucent and opaque. We even got to use Data Loggers to measure the light!

Great catching up 5ER!

Solving a problem

Last week, I spied on Mrs Daniel's Maths Group as they had a super way of marking and receiving feedback with regards to their homework. This week, I gave it a go and requested that some of Mrs Daniel's group came in to 'supervise' the proceedings so I knew if I was doing it right or not.

Thank you so much for your help, I couldn't have done it without you!

Worth a Mention Children

A massive 'well done' and huge congratulations to this week's Worth a Mention Children. Another cracking range of reasons for being chosen by your teachers.

A couple of weeks ago I said that I would expand on Amelia's achievement in sport so here is a picture of her with her photograph and trophy for her excellent contribution to Rugby. Well done Amelia!

Just a quick reminder that Year Five are off to Safewise the week after half term. 5ER kicks off the week by going on the Monday. This is a new trip for us so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it compares to Streetwise.
Don't forget to bring your lunch with you!

Well, that's it for another week. I hope you all have a great half term - it's a fabulous opportunity to recharge your batteries so you are ready and raring to go for your last half term in Year Five.

Many thanks to Miss Enever for all her brilliant pictures - the Blog would be a much duller place without them!
