...and relax!

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

Well, I am extremely impressed! 'Why?' I hear you cry! It's all because you are all officially superstars by reading and commenting on the Blog - hooray!!!!
This week, so far, we have had over 500 hits on the Blog,
a-ma-zing!
Thank you so much for checking, I am now a very happy Blogger indeed.

Right, are you sitting comfortably? Then I'll begin...

Forest Schools Disco

What a fantastic evening that was! Miss Still strutting her stuff in the middle of the dance floor will be an image I carry around with me for many years to come!

Here a few of Miss Enever's excellent photos to show you what a great time was had by all...

Thank you for supporting Forest Schools, you raised £259 to help buy equipment for this fabulous facility.

Visiting the First Schools

On Monday we went down to Prince of Wales First School and Damers First School to read the  'Excuses Stories' that we recently wrote in our English lessons.

We had great fun with the Key Stage One children as you can see in the following photographs.

A big thank you to Mrs Lister for these pictures, they're great!

Celebration Assembly

A HUGE thank you to the 100 of you that came along to celebrate the incredible successes of the children in Year Five. I cannot believe that they have achieved so much in such a short space of time!

Here are a few pictures of the assembly taken by Mrs Lister.

Oisin only went and got himself a silver certificate and guess who didn't read it out on Monday?

Sorry!

The Lovely Mrs Pluck

Wednesday was a wet play day, urgh! No-one likes wet play do they? Mrs Pluck, our Assistant Headteacher, very bravely entered the Year 5 corridor and was pleasantly surprised with how well 5ER were behaving! As a result of this, they were all awarded with a Citizenship Credit each so she came back at lunchtime to sign them.

She has taken a bit of a shine to our comfortable armchair so we better keep an eye on it, just in case is mysteriously disappears from our room!

Golden Time

Only 8 children missed their Golden Time this week which is great and I am delighted that, yet again, no Year Five child had a detention.

5ER were the only class this week who all received their Golden Time - well done (not that I'm biased or anything!).

Way Home

Not to be confused with 'On The Way Home' by Jill Murphy! In fact, they're very different books aren't they Year Five?

We have been teaching the children how to use Reading Journals (not to be confused with Reading Records) and this book has been a perfect vehicle to do so.

One of the activities we have enjoyed has been hot seating the character 'Shane'. Emma kindly agreed to take this on and answered questions the children had, in character.

She was excellent, well done Emma!

...and finally!

This should put a smile on your face, especially if you are in 5AD. Mrs Daniel is a brilliant teacher, we all know that. However, there is one tiny, little and insignificant thing that she struggles with...

DRAWING!!!!

Now, for those children who know me, I am by no means what one would call an 'artist' so I do actually admire Mrs Daniel's drawing skills.
Anyone fancy giving us lessons?!

So, that's it for another week. This Blogger is going to have a week off so I will 'see' you back here in a fortnight.

I hope you all have a lovely half term, especially our Year Five children who have worked so incredibly hard this half term.

Mrs Ray

(who is going to book Mrs Daniel a place on a drawing course and has decided to 'keep her company' by booking herself a place too!)

Nice to meet you, to meet you nice!

Hello and welcome back to the Year Five Blog!

The title of this post really shows my age doesn't it but it really was lovely to meet with so many of you this week. I am also delighted that people have been brave enough to comment on my posts so a HUGE 'Thank You' to those who have done so. I also want to thank you for reading this blog - the page view numbers have increased dramatically which makes me a very happy Blogger indeed.

Anyway, as usual, I have lots to report so let's get going!

Celebration Assembly

Last reminder about the assembly on Monday.
Labels have been put in diaries, certificates printed and we're ready and raring to go!
We are delighted with the huge number of children who will be receiving certificates on Monday but if you didn't get one this time, don't despair, we will carry on collecting the credits until the end of the term in December - your time will come!

Super Schools

What a fantastic afternoon!
According to sources, the children were very excited to meet a real life athlete and approached the whole with gusto and enthusiasm!

Don't forget that the sponsorship money is due in now!
Please make sure that your hard earned money is handed in before half term.

Helping Hands

So, how's it all going? Have your children morphed into domestic God and Goddesses yet?
If not, it's time to get a move on as we would love your donations by the end of next week!
Happy Helping!

Parent Consultations

Thank you to everyone who came to our Parent Consultations this week. It was such a valuable evening and we really enjoyed meeting with you.

If you couldn't attend either evening, it is worth getting in touch with your child's Homebase Tutor to arrange an alternative appointment.

Golden Time

This week only 6 children missed their Golden Time and not one Year Five child had been in Detention - fantastic!

A HUGE congratulations to 5PC who all received their Golden Time this week - brilliant!

I must mention 5KD who also got their Golden Time but who have turned everything around and have had an excellent week as a result!

Well done 5KD - I haven't seen Mr Duffy with such a huge smile on his face for weeks!

Worth a Mention Children

This week's Worth a Mention children are:
Evan, Carly, Amy C, Davine, Noah, Jack, Marcus, Laila, Beth L and Tyler.

As always, we salute and congratulate you for such a fabulous achievement!

Year Five Tech

Thank you for all the donations that you have kindly sent into school to enable the Technology Department to keep running their fabulous projects.

Here are a few of the children in action:

So, that's it for another week. I will look forward to seeing some of you at Monday's Celebration Assembly. You won't be able to miss me, I'll be the swan at the front of the Hall - calm on the outside and paddling like mad underneath!

Thank you again for your interest in our Blog, it's so good to have you on board!

Have a good week everyone and don't forget that the children break up on Thursday next week!

Mrs Ray

(who is really looking forward to another fun-packed week!)
